21 Apr Confused about Backing Up your Data?
Backing Up your Data… What do I use, CD, DVD, External Hard Drive, Tape, NAS, Cloud..
There are so many options to Backup Data, but we typically find most clients are complacent with their backups not realising till the point when they actually require the data or an device fails.
Hard Drive manufacturers and retailers for years have lead consumers to believe using the humble external hard drive as a backup device is OK… Sorry People they are only good for keeping your Pirated Movies etc on.. Not your important Family Photos/Documents or your Critical Business Backups on
Every week we have client’s contacting us about Data Recovery after either a PC or MAC has failed or they’ve dropped or damaged their External Hard Drive.
External Hard Drives by design are very susceptible to physical damage due to the rotational speed which the drives spin which is between 4200rpm and 7200rpm, being dropped or not correctly unplugged is what causes failures, this is also due to the poor design on the manufacturers part, but also lack of understanding or education to the end user on just how fragile external hard drives are.
Backing Up Your Data without using an External Hard Drive
With the implementation of the NBN here on the Gold Coast and Tweed Region, it is now changing how Homes & Businesses backup their data.
With NBN now we have upload speeds that are able to easily upload large amounts of data required for Cloud/Offsite Backup which with previous ADSL technologies was not possible unless the site was connected via a Fibre Connection or a Microwave connection.
So if your confused about backing up your data or still using an External Hard Drive, talk to the team at PCFIXIT about implementing a Business Grade solution to protect your important information.
